About Fly-NC

Hi, I’m Jason Deck, the founder of Fly-NC and an independent Certificated Flight Instructor (CFI/CFII) based in Raleigh, North Carolina. Aviation has been more than a career path for me—it’s been a way of life.

I grew up in an aviation family, immersed in the world of airplanes from an early age. My grandfather built Deck Airpark (NC11), a private airstrip here in North Carolina, and some of my most formative learning experiences came not from classrooms, but from conversations around the hangar. That kind of informal, experience-driven knowledge—passed down through generations of pilots—is something I strive to preserve and share with my own students.

Though aviation has always been central to who I am, I’ve also spent time in the business world, earning both a B.A. and an MBA, and building a successful professional career outside the cockpit. That experience gave me a unique perspective on training—one that values efficiency, structure, and clarity, while never losing sight of human connection, mentorship, and hands-on experience.

I started Fly-NC to bring those two worlds together. My goal is to offer a flight training experience that fully meets the FAA’s Airman Certification Standards, while also giving students access to the kind of real-world insight, decision-making, and aeronautical understanding that only comes from deep immersion and personalized mentorship.

Fly-NC operates out of Raleigh Executive Jetport (KTTA) near Sanford, NC and Raleigh-Durham International Airport (KRDU)—both perfectly positioned in the heart of central North Carolina, with access to diverse terrain, weather conditions, and real cross-country flying opportunities.

Whether you're just starting your aviation journey or building toward advanced ratings, I look forward to helping you become not just a certified pilot, but a capable, confident, and safety-conscious aviator.

Welcome to Fly-NC—where we combine high standards with high value, and where learning to fly is both rigorous and deeply rewarding.
