Happy Wife Co-Pilot Training | Peace of Mind for Pilot Families

At Fly-NC, we know that flying isn't just about the pilot—it’s about the people who fly alongside them. Our Happy Wife Co-Pilot Training is designed specifically for the non-pilot spouse, partner, or frequent right-seat passenger who wants to be more than just along for the ride. This course provides practical, confidence-building instruction in how to safely respond if the pilot becomes incapacitated during flight.

Through hands-on training, we’ll cover:

  • Basic aircraft control – How to keep the airplane level and manage speed, altitude, and direction

  • Power and autopilot management – Using available systems to reduce workload and stabilize the aircraft

  • Radio communication – How to speak with Air Traffic Control, declare an emergency, and ask for assistance

  • Emergency navigation – How to locate and fly toward a nearby airport, and what to expect during descent and landing support

You don’t need any prior aviation knowledge—just a willingness to learn. We tailor the pace and content to your comfort level, focusing on the key skills that will empower you to remain calm, take action, and make a difference when it matters most.

This course is about peace of mind—for both you and the pilot you love. And with our scenic training environment across central North Carolina, it’s as enjoyable as it is educational.
